June 10, 2010: Police have launched extensive investigations into an incident where four minors, kept at a probationary care home close to chilaw, were allegedly being taken to engage in prostitution.
Police said that the children were aged between 14 and 16. The children had left the children's home last evening, spent the night with an individual at another house and were arrested this afternoon, while approaching the Chilaw town, en route to another location.
Investigations have revealed that the children, two of whom are from Chilaw and two from Galle and Nawagattegama, were placed in probationary care by court, as they had been abused earlier.
Police added that an individual from Negombo, who was allegedly taking these children, has been arrested.
