Sri Lanka has claimed victory over Pakistan in the first Test match by 21 runs.
Sri Lanka scored 419 runs in the 1st innings, to which Pakistan replied with 422 runs, leading into the 2nd innings on Day 4 by 3 runs.
Stars for the Lankan batting side were Dimuth Karunaratne and Dinesh Chandimal.
Karunaratne fell short of a century, having scored 93 runs before being dismissed. However, Chandimal went on to score 155 runs and remained not out till the end of the innings.
Azhar Ali lead the Pakistani batting attack with the most runs in their line up. He scored 85 runs while Haris Sohali supported the attack with 76 runs.
Suranga Lakmal and Rangana Herath took 2 and 5 wickets respectively to dismiss the Pakistani side.
In the 2nd innings however, the Lankan camp struggled and were all out for 138 runs, leaving Pakistan to socre 135 to win the game.
Rangana Herath and Dilruwan Perera lead the bowling attack for the Sri Lankan side.
The two claimed 6 wickets for 43 and 3 wickets for 46 respectively to rip through the Pakistani batting line up to leave them all out for 114, 21 runs short of the target.
Meanwhile Sri Lankan spinner Rangana Herath achieved a colossal feat during the game. He successfully claimed bragging rights to 400 wickets in Test Cricket.
The most important part? – Herath is the first left arm spinner to take 400 wickets in Test Cricket History!
