The National Unity Alliance convened a media briefing on Tuesday evening.
At the media briefing, the leader of the National Unity Alliance Azad Sally said, he wonders whether the airport was transferred to Chatham Street as he thought Wimal Weerawansa was leaving the country as many people were accompanying him to the Police FCID.
“Former ministers, ministers with cases filed against them in courts and “Namal baby” were among them”, said.
He noted that every day there is someone who appears before the FCID for all what they have done in the past.
Sally said that Namal says that Wimal Weerawansa used the vehicle and that there is nothing wrong in that as there are certain persons in this regime as well who engage in such things.
“What we said continuously was that we can solve these problems, but people who engaged in fraud and corruption, murderers, ones who implemented the white van tradition and launched attacks on TV stations are still at large”, he added, “This government completed two years on the 8th of January, but was unable to arrest these people. If the government listened to what we had to tell them back then, they wouldn’t get attacked in Hambantota”.
