Director Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse took over the global box office this weekend with an estimated $65 million domestically for the Friday-through-Sunday frame from 4,150 theaters and about $80 million for the four-day Memorial Day weekend.
While it’s quite a drop from X-Men: Days of Future Past‘s four-day opening of $110.6 million in 2014, Apocalypse has also now earned $185.8 million overseas, for a global box office total of about $265 million through Monday.
Made for about $178 million before marketing expenses, X-Men: Apocalypse received an A- CinemaScore from audiences. The 20th Century Fox release stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Olivia Munn, Lucas Till, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Alexandra Shipp, Josh Helman, Lana Condor and Ben Hardy.
