Arsenal played an impressive game against Barcelona in the 1st game between them in the round of 16 at the Emirates stadium.
The first leg between the two kicked off with the home team playing a hugely disciplined game to keep Barcelona at bay. Indeed in the first 30 minutes the holders only had two touches in Arsenal’s penalty area compared to 11 from Wenger’s team. The gunners’ had their chance in front of goal a few times but did not make full use of it.
The second half kicked off and the home team could do very little to keep the Forwards from Nou Camp quiet. After Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Olivier Giroud had come close to giving Arsenal the lead, Messi scored his first goal against keeper Petr Cech at the seventh attempt when he set up a blistering a counter-attack involving Suarez and Neymar to sweep home a finish after 71 minutes.
The second goal came in with a penalty converted by Messi when Arsenal substitute Mathieu Flamini floored the Argentinian with a mistimed challenge. Arsenal now has the uphill task of taking on Barcelona at Nou Camp with a 2 goal deficit on March 16.
Bayern Munich Faced off against last seasons runners-up Juventus in a thrilling match up.
The visitors took the lead when Thomas Muller managed to find the back of the net. The home team struggled, having to camp in their own half and the game looked bleak for the Italian club, when Arjen Robben curled in the second.
The crowd at Turin were in for a treat, with Juventus making an unprecedented comeback against the German club.There was a bit of luck with the first as Joshua Kimmich lost the ball 25 yards from goal. This allowed Mario Mandzukic to play in Dybala, who converted with a composed finish.
The game was levelled when Sturaro slammed one in off a headed pass by fellow substitute Morata.
Juventus will take on Bayern at the Allianz Arena on March 16.
