The 58th Grammy awards was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Monday night.
The Best album of the year was won by Taylor Swift for her 1989 album and became the first woman to win the award twice as she pointed out in her acceptance speech
The singer made a defiant acceptance speech which seemed to allude to her argument with Kanye West earlier in the week.
“I want to say to all the young women out there – there are going to be people along the way who are going to try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame.” she said
The ‘Record of the year’ and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance was clinched by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars for “Uptown Funk”. Ed Sheeran managed to win the award for the ‘song of the year’ and ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’ for his track “Thinking Out Loud”.
Kendrick Lamar’s “Butterfly” won the award for the best rap album while also managed to clinch the award for Best Rap Performance for “Alright”.
The award for the Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance was won by Alabama Shakes for their song “Don’t Wanna Fight,”. Best Alternative Music Album was also won by Alabama Shakes for their album Sound & Color.
The Best Rock Album was won by Muse for Drones.
The Weeknd managed to bring home some gold with Best Urban Contemporary Album for ‘Beauty Behind The Madness’, and Best R&B Performance for ‘Earned It’.
“Where Are Ü Now,” Skrillex And Diplo With Justin Bieber managed to win the award for Best Dance Recording.The Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album Skrillex And Diplo Present Jack Ü by Skrillex And Diplo
Best Music Video was won by Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar for their work on the track “Bad Blood,”
Best Music Film: was won by ‘Amy’, a documentary of Amy Winehouse’s life in her own words
