The 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup is just around the corner and according to Sri Lankan cricket team manager Michael de Zoysa, the team is scheduled to resume training activities on Saturday.
Michael de Zoysa noted that left arm spinner Rangana Herath, who had returned to Sri Lanka due to a family emergency, has returned to New Zealand. He added that the injured Jeevan Mendis, Dhammika Prasad and Suranga Lakmal have all recovered.
Chairman of the National Selection Committee, Sanath Jayasuriya noted that they have decided on T.M. Dilshan and Lahiru Thirimanne as the opening pair for Sri Lanka’s batting line-up.Jayasuriya added that paceman Lasith Malinga, who was out of action due to a surgery, has found his rhythm again.
Sri Lanka Cricket announced Friday that they had decided to obtain the services of psychiatric consultant Jerome Snape to uplift the team’s mentality. He will join the team for 14 days from February 24. Sri Lanka will take on South Africa on Monday, in their first warm up match of the tournament.
