A special day for Sri Lanka’s railway service was marked on Tuesday, as the northern railway service was extended to Palai in Jaffna from Kilinochchi.
The train that will travel on this new track is set to commence its journey from Colombo Fort on Tuesday morning.
For more information in this regard, News1st contacted the Railways General Manager, B.A.P. Ariyaratne.
“From Tuesday a special train will travel from Kilinochchi to Palai and it will be vested in the public today, accordingly all the trains that travel to Kilinochchi will travel up to Palai Railway Station. The public will now be able to travel to Colombo directly from Palai. We believe that this will ease the transportation needs of the people in that area. From Friday onwards, the commuters will be able to pre -book first class tickets, where the compartments would be air conditioned. This train service is available on a daily basis.”
