Weapons Cache Linked to ‘Bus Lalith’ Recovered

COLOMBO (News 1st); Police have recovered several firearms allegedly linked to Lalith Kannangara, alias "Bus Lalith", who is currently being held under detention orders.

The discovery was made during a search operation conducted by the Colombo Central Crimes Investigation Bureau at a cemetery in the Hanwella area following the interrogation of the suspect.

During the operation, officers recovered a T-56 assault rifle, a repeater-type firearm and a pistol, which were taken into police custody.

Police also recovered four rounds of ammunition believed to be used with the repeater firearm.

Investigators are now conducting further inquiries to determine the purpose for which the weapons had been kept and whether they were used in any criminal activities.
