Government Moves To Support Those Affected By El Niño

COLOMBO (News 1st):Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Wasantha Samarasinghe says that, discussions are underway to provide relief to people affected by the impact of El Niño conditions.

He made these remarks while addressing a press conference held in Colombo yesterday.

The Minister said the full extent of the impact of the situation cannot be measured as yet. 

The Minister added that the government is considering providing livelihood assistance to people who have lost their crops and livelihoods as a result of the situation.
