Special Committee To Be Appointed To Address El Niño Impact – PM

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya says steps will be taken to appoint a special committee to prepare necessary plans to address the impact of El Niño situation.

She made the remarks while participating in the “Muhunata Muhuna” programme broadcast on Sirasa TV last night. 

The Prime Minister said a national programme has already been launched under the leadership of the President to respond to weather changes caused by the El Niño situation. 

She added that instructions have been issued to all districts to ensure food security, energy management, and water management, while discussions are ongoing at district committee level to decide on necessary measures.
