Traffic Restrictions Announced in Colombo for ‘Walk for Peace’

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have issued a traffic advisory in connection with the Walk for Peace Programme Sri Lanka, which is scheduled to be held in Colombo on April 28.

According to the Police Media Division, the programme will commence at 4:00 a.m. at Independence Square, Colombo 07, under the patronage of the President.

Police said vehicular movement will be restricted on several roads from 11:00 a.m. on April 28, subject to prevailing conditions, as part of the traffic management plan implemented for the event.

The roads where restrictions will apply include:

Baseline Road (from Bandaranaike Roundabout to Borella Junction)


Maradana Road


Nandadasa Kodagoda Mawatha


Ward Place


Zoysa Roundabout


Lipton Roundabout


Dharmapala Mawatha


F.R. Senanayake Mawatha


C.W.W. Kannangara Mawatha


Horton Roundabout


Nanda Motors vicinity


Nidahas Mawatha


Premasiri Kemadasa Mawatha


Cambridge Place


Glass House area


Marcus Fernando Mawatha

The Sri Lanka Police have requested motorists and the general public to make use of alternative routes wherever possible in order to minimize traffic congestion and inconvenience during the period of the event.
