Hirunika’s Street Play Case Set for March Hearing

COLOMBO (News 1st); Colombo’s Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama ordered that the case against former Member of Parliament Hirunika Premachandra and 14 other accused be recalled on March 16. 

The directive came during proceedings at the Colombo Magistrate’s Court, where all suspects, including Premachandra, appeared in person.

The case alleges that the group staged an unauthorized street drama near Independence Square in the Cinnamon Gardens Police Division, violating the Police Ordinance and Thoroughfares Ordinance. 

According to police reports, the incident occurred on November 14, 2022, when the accused allegedly defied legal directives during the performance.

Police informed the court that the case has been referred to the Attorney General for instructions.
