COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka received a significant boost to its disaster relief efforts early this morning when the first humanitarian flight from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) landed at Katunayake International Airport.
The aid shipment, aimed at supporting communities affected by severe flooding, includes:
48 temporary housing units
2,592 food packages sufficient for 14 days per family
Tents and vehicles for rescue teams
Motorcycles designed for rough terrain
The supplies were transported aboard a C-17 Globemaster, the world’s largest military cargo aircraft operated by the UAE Air Force.
