US Commits $2M for Sri Lanka’s Disaster Relief

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka is reeling under the devastating impact of Cyclone Ditwah, with heavy rains and flooding displacing thousands and crippling communities across the island.

Amid these challenging times, the United States has stepped forward with a significant pledge of $2 million to support urgent relief operations.

Announcing the commitment on X, Julie Chung, U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, stated:

“Sri Lanka is facing difficult days as communities continue to be affected by Cyclone Ditwah, with heavy rains & flooding in many areas. The United States stands in solidarity with Sri Lanka. Today, we are committing $2 million to support urgent relief efforts. This reflects our enduring partnership with Sri Lanka as families rebuild, now & in the days ahead.”
