Sri Lanka’s National Parks Shut Down as Heavy Rains Lash Island

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Wildlife Conservation has announced the closure of several national parks due to heavy rains and adverse weather conditions.

Zones 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of Yala National Park will remain closed to visitors, with only Zone 6 via the ‘Kalu Palama’ access road remaining open.

In addition, the following parks will be closed until further notice:

Horton Plains National Park


Wasgamuwa National Park


Kumana National Park


Wilpattu National Park


Minneriya National Park


Kaudulla National Park

Tourists who have made reservations for lodging in these parks can reschedule their bookings for another date.
