COLOMBO (News 1st); Google and Adani Enterprises, through their joint venture AdaniConneX, unveiled plans to develop India’s largest AI data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The project marks a transformative moment in India’s digital infrastructure and clean energy ambitions.
The initiative, part of a multi-faceted USD 15 billion investment by Google over five years (2026–2030), will include gigawatt-scale data centre operations, a robust subsea cable network, and green energy infrastructure to power advanced AI workloads across the country.
The project is being developed in collaboration with ecosystem partners including AdaniConneX and Airtel.
The foundational pillars of the Google AI hub developed in collaboration with AdaniConneX include purpose-built AI data centre infrastructure in Visakhapatnam that will add significant compute capacity to help pioneer a generational shift in India’s AI capabilities.
At the heart of the development is a purpose-built AI hub, designed to significantly expand India’s compute capacity and accelerate its leadership in artificial intelligence.
The campus will serve as a foundational pillar for AI innovation, enabling businesses, researchers, and creators to build and scale transformative solutions.
The project is expected to create tens of thousands of jobs across technology, construction, and clean energy sectors, while driving digital inclusivity and positioning Visakhapatnam as a global AI and connectivity gateway.
