COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s export sector has demonstrated steady and positive growth during the first five months of 2025, according to the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB).
The country earned a total of USD 6,933.35 million in export revenue from January to May 2025, marking a 7.14% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
In May alone, total export earnings from goods and services amounted to USD 1,386.66 million, reflecting a 6.35% year-on-year growth.
Merchandise exports for the month rose by 1.70%, generating USD 1,028.52 million in revenue.
From January to May, merchandise exports totaled USD 5,344.23 million, a 5.46% increase compared to the corresponding period last year.
Meanwhile, the services export sector also saw a significant boost, with earnings reaching USD 1,589.12 million, representing a 13.20% growth over the same period in 2024.
