Permission granted to import 2,000MT of big onions from India

COLOMBO (News1st); The Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Food Security said permission was granted to import 2,000MT of big onions from India, through Lanka Sathosa.
Its Secretary Ranjith Athapattu said permission was granted as an initial phase.
The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka announced that the ban imposed by India on the export of big onions was officially lifted only for Sri Lanka.
Earlier, the Indian High Commission said Indian exporters were allowed to export up to 10,000MT of big onions to Sri Lanka.
