Special Traffic Plan for Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne's Funeral Procession in Colombo

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Police say a special traffic plan is in operation on several roads in Colombo this afternoon, due to the funeral procession of the Founder of Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement Dr. A. T. Ariyaratne.

Police Spokesperson DIG Nihal Talduwa said that Dr. Ariyaratne's body is being brought from the Sarvodaya headquarters in Moratuwa to the Independence Square premises in a special vehicle procession.

The final rites are scheduled to be performed with state honors at Independence Square this afternoon.

Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne passed away on April 16 at a private hospital in Colombo.

He was 92 years old at the time of his demise.
