COLOMBO (News 1st) - The National Housing Development Authority announces the commencement of construction for 10,000 houses for estate workers, funded with Indian financial aid.
Its chairman Rajeev Sooriyaarachchi said these houses will be built in the vicinity of estates across six districts.
The construction cost per house is estimated at 2.8 million rupees.
Divisional Secretariats and estate administrations will collaborate to identify eligible beneficiaries.
The National Housing Development Authority will oversee the construction process.
He adds that the project aims to complete the construction of all 10,000 houses within two years.
