Japan commends Sri Lanka's economic management

COLOMBO (News1st); Japan's Deputy Vice Finance Minister for International Affairs Fujii Daijo has confirmed the strong friendship and relationship between Japan and Sri Lanka.

Posting on X, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe said Daijo appreciated the excellent progress made by Sri Lanka and congratulated the Sri Lankan authorities led by the President for the strong leadership and economic management.

The State Minister thanked the Deputy Vice Minister for Japan's continued support for Sri Lanka, particularly as Co-Chair of the Official Creditor Committee.

State Minister Semasinghe said the progress on debt restructuring was discussed in detail, and Daijo assured of Japan's continued commitment to early finalization of the debt restructuring process.

They met on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund World Bank Group Spring Meetings.
