Govt taking all steps to curb OMICRON: Keheliya

COLOMBO (News 1st); Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella says that the Government is doing everything it can to curb the spread of the OMICRON variant.

He also urged the public to get vaccinated as soon as possible. 

Speaking to media, the Minister pointed out that although the OMICRON variant is less severe than other variants, it can spread rapidly.

While stating that the Government has received 14 million vaccine doses to administer the booster dose, the Minister of Health requested the public to go to their nearest vaccination centers and obtain the booster dose, as it is the most effective solution to this pandemic.
