UN condemns ill treatment of prisoners

COLOMBO (News 1st): The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka Hanaa Singer has issued a statement with regard to the ill treatment of prisoners in the country. Citing the Mandela Rules, which underlines that provision of ethical health care for prisoners is a State responsibility, she states that the Unites Nations Sri Lanka is currently in works to strengthen capacities to uphold the rights of all those in custody.
