Young couple drown in lake at Nawagaththegama

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A young couple aged 21 and 17 have drowned in a lake in Nawagaththegama. The deceased persons have been identified as residents of Wennapuwa and Naththandiya. The couple had got married against their parents' wishes and were residing in a house in Nawagaththegama. The police said that they had drowned when the 17-year-old girl had first fallen into the lake and then the boy had attempted to rescue her.
