Five drownings within 24 hours

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Five people including two foreign nationals have reportedly drowned within the last 24 hours. Pamunugama A 45-year-old woman drowned in the coastal area of Epamulla, Pamunugama near Bopitiya while the body of a 50-year-old man was discovered from the Delathura stream near Ja - Ela. Vennapuwa A 28-year-old German national who was bathing in the coastal area near the Velankanni Church in Wennapuwa had also drowned. Matara A 36-year-old British national died yesterday (January 13) while he was surfing in the Madihe seas in Matara. Nawalapitiya Meanwhile, an 18-year-old child drowned yesterday (January 13) when he was bathing with a group of friends in the Mahaweli river.
